Ray Sasaki is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music through his exceptional skills as a trumpeter. Born in 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Sasaki grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a singer, which exposed him to music at an early age. Sasaki's interest in music began when he was in elementary school, where he started playing the trumpet. He was a natural talent and quickly became one of the best trumpet players in his school. His passion for music continued to grow, and he decided to pursue a career in music. After completing high school, Sasaki attended the University of Hawaii, where he studied music. He was an exceptional student and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. At Eastman, Sasaki studied under the tutelage of renowned trumpet player and teacher, Barbara Butler. Sasaki's talent and hard work paid off, and he quickly established himself as one of the best trumpet players in the country. He won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition in 1978. After completing his studies at Eastman, Sasaki joined the faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, where he taught trumpet and performed with the university's Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. He also performed with the Austin Symphony Orchestra and the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra. Sasaki's career as a soloist took off in the 1980s, and he began performing with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. He performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others.
