Len Cariou is a Canadian actor and singer, best known for his work in the field of classical music. Born on September 30, 1939, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada, Cariou grew up in a musical family. His father was a conductor and his mother was a pianist, and they encouraged him to pursue a career in music from a young age. Cariou began his musical training at the age of 16, when he enrolled in the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts. He studied voice, piano, and guitar, and soon became a skilled performer. After completing his studies, he began performing in local theater productions and concerts, and quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician. In 1962, Cariou moved to New York City to pursue a career in theater. He quickly landed his first Broadway role in the musical "The Fourposter," and went on to appear in a number of other productions, including "A Little Night Music," "Applause," and "Sweeney Todd." He also appeared in several films and television shows, including "The Four Seasons," "Thirteen Days," and "Blue Bloods." Throughout his career, Cariou has remained committed to classical music, and has performed in a number of major concerts and operas. In 1978, he made his debut with the New York Philharmonic, singing the role of Jesus in a performance of Bach's "St. Matthew Passion." He has also performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among others. In addition to his work as a performer, Cariou has also been recognized for his contributions to the field of classical music. He has received numerous awards and honors, including a Tony Award for his performance in "Sweeney Todd," a Drama Desk Award for his performance in "A Little Night Music," and a Grammy Award for his recording of "Sweeney Todd." Despite his many accomplishments, Cariou remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and record music, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest classical music artists of his generation.
