Melba Moore is a renowned American singer, actress, and producer who has made a significant impact in the world of classical music. Born on October 29, 1945, in New York City, Melba was the daughter of saxophonist Teddy Hill and R&B singer Bonnie Davis. Her parents were both successful musicians, and Melba grew up surrounded by music. Melba's love for music began at an early age, and she started singing in her church choir when she was just six years old. She attended the Newark Arts High School, where she honed her skills in music and drama. After graduating from high school, Melba attended Montclair State College, where she studied music education. In 1967, Melba made her Broadway debut in the musical "Hair." She went on to appear in several other Broadway productions, including "Purlie," "Les Misérables," and "Chicago."
