Michael Costa showed an early interest in music and began his musical education at a young age. At the age of 14, Michael Costa moved to England with his family, where he continued his musical education. He studied under the renowned composer and conductor Sir George Smart and quickly established himself as a talented musician. In 1829, he made his debut as a conductor at the King's Theatre in London, conducting a performance of Rossini's "The Barber of Seville." Over the next few years, Michael Costa continued to conduct at various theaters in London, including the Covent Garden and Drury Lane theaters. He also began to compose his own music, including operas, symphonies, and choral works. In 1835, he composed his first opera, "Don Carlos," which was well-received by audiences and critics alike.
