The McGill Chamber Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Montreal, Canada. Founded in 1939 by violinist and conductor Alexander Brott, the orchestra has become one of the most respected and renowned ensembles in Canada and beyond. Alexander Brott, a graduate of the Paris Conservatory, founded the orchestra with the goal of providing a platform for young musicians to perform and develop their skills. The orchestra's first concert was held in 1940, and it quickly gained a reputation for its high-quality performances and innovative programming. Over the years, the McGill Chamber Orchestra has featured many talented musicians, including cellist Ofra Harnoy, pianist Anton Kuerti, and violinist James Ehnes. The orchestra has also collaborated with a number of renowned conductors, including Charles Dutoit, Kent Nagano, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. One of the highlights of the orchestra's history was its performance at the 1967 World Exposition in Montreal.
