Role:EnsembleCoro da Camera di Praga, also known as the Prague Chamber Choir, is a renowned classical music ensemble based in Prague, Czech Republic. The choir was founded in 1952 by its first conductor, Josef Veselka, and has since become one of the most respected and sought-after choirs in Europe. The choir's early years were marked by a focus on Czech choral music, particularly the works of Antonín Dvořák and Bedřich Smetana. However, under the leadership of subsequent conductors, the choir expanded its repertoire to include a wide range of classical and contemporary works from around the world. One of the choir's most notable achievements came in 1964, when it won first prize at the International Choral Competition in Arezzo, Italy. This victory helped to establish the choir's reputation as a world-class ensemble, and led to invitations to perform at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and beyond. Over the years, the choir has collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors and orchestras, including Sir Charles Mackerras, Sir Neville Marriner, and the Berlin Philharmonic. It has also recorded extensively, with over 50 albums to its name, many of which have received critical acclaim and won awards. One of the choir's most memorable performances came in 1990, when it sang at the funeral of Czechoslovakia's first democratically elected president, Václav Havel. The choir's rendition of the Czech national anthem, "Kde domov můj," moved many in attendance to tears, and helped to cement the choir's place as a symbol of Czech national pride and cultural heritage. In recent years, the choir has continued to tour extensively, performing at major festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and beyond. It has also continued to record, with recent releases including a collection of works by Czech composer Leoš Janáček, and a collaboration with the Prague Symphony Orchestra on a recording of Mozart's Requiem. Throughout its history, Coro da Camera di Praga has remained committed to the highest standards of musicianship and artistic excellence. Its dedication to the choral art form has helped to inspire generations of singers and music lovers, and its legacy as one of Europe's finest choirs is sure to endure for many years to come.More....
