In 1852, Sieber was appointed as the court pianist to the Duke of Modena. He held this position for several years, during which time he continued to compose music. In 1856, he left his position as court pianist and moved to Paris, where he hoped to further his career as a composer. In Paris, Sieber became friends with a number of other composers, including Franz Liszt and Hector Berlioz. He also began to write music for the theater, including operas and ballets. One of his most successful works was the ballet "La Fille du Danube," which premiered in Paris in 1864. Sieber's music was known for its lyricism and emotional depth.
