Dénes Karasszon was born on January 1, 1985, in Budapest, Hungary. He was born into a family of musicians, and his parents were both professional classical musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Dénes showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Dénes received his formal musical education at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers in Hungary, including Zoltán Kocsis and András Schiff. During his time at the academy, Dénes won several awards and competitions, including the Hungarian National Piano Competition and the International Piano Competition in Vienna. After completing his studies at the academy, Dénes began performing professionally as a soloist and chamber musician. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young pianists in Hungary, and he was invited to perform at some of the country's most prestigious concert halls and festivals. Dénes's international career began in 2007 when he won the top prize at the International Piano Competition in Moscow. This victory brought him to the attention of music critics and audiences around the world, and he was soon invited to perform at major concert halls and festivals in Europe, Asia, and North America. One of Dénes's most memorable performances was at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2010. He was invited to perform as part of the BBC Proms, one of the world's most prestigious classical music festivals. His performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and it cemented his reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. Dénes has also been recognized for his work as a chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including violinist Joshua Bell and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. In 2015, he was awarded the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who have the potential for a major career in classical music. In addition to his work as a performer, Dénes is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Royal Academy of Music in London. He is known for his passionate and engaging teaching style, and many of his students have gone on to successful careers as professional musicians. Dénes's recordings have also received critical acclaim. His recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas was named one of the best classical recordings of 2012 by The New York Times, and his recording of Chopin's Piano Concertos with the Budapest Festival Orchestra was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016.
