Born on August 22, 1987, in the city of Lviv, Ukraine, Minakov showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was enrolled in the Lviv Special Music School for Gifted Children, where he received rigorous training in piano performance and music theory. Minakov's talent and dedication to music were evident from a young age, and he quickly rose to prominence in the Ukrainian classical music scene. He won his first piano competition at the age of nine and went on to win numerous other competitions throughout his childhood and teenage years. In 2005, he was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy, which marked a turning point in his career. After completing his studies at the Lviv Special Music School, Minakov continued his education at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv, where he studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue Valery Kozlov. Minakov's career as a professional pianist began in earnest in 2010, when he won the First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy. One of Minakov's most notable performances took place in 2012, when he played Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine at the Kiev Opera House.
