Elina Buksha is a Latvian violinist who has established herself as one of the most promising classical music artists of her generation. Born on May 7, 1993, in Riga, Latvia, Buksha showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of five. She was encouraged by her parents, who were both musicians, and received her first lessons from her mother. Buksha's talent was quickly recognized, and she began to win prizes in national and international competitions. At the age of nine, she won first prize in the Latvian National Competition for Young Musicians, and at the age of twelve, she won first prize in the International Competition for Young Musicians in Tallinn, Estonia. Buksha continued to study the violin at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School in Riga, where she was taught by Professor Eleonora Testelec. In 2011, she was accepted into the prestigious Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany, where she studied with Professor Ana Chumachenco. During her studies in Munich, Buksha won several awards and prizes, including first prize in the International Violin Competition "Andrea Postacchini" in Fermo, Italy, and second prize in the International Violin Competition "Premio Rodolfo Lipizer" in Gorizia, Italy. She also performed as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. After completing her studies in Munich, Buksha continued her education at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, where she studied with Professor Kolja Blacher. During this time, she won first prize in the International Violin Competition "Città di Cremona" in Italy and was a finalist in the International Violin Competition "Joseph Joachim" in Hannover, Germany. Buksha's career as a soloist has taken her to many of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Tonhalle Zurich, and the Salle Cortot in Paris. She has performed with many leading orchestras, including the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. Buksha is also an active chamber musician and has performed with many renowned musicians, including pianist Igor Levit, cellist Daniel Müller-Schott, and violist Nils Mönkemeyer. She is a member of the Trio Gaspard, which was founded in 2010 and has won several awards, including first prize in the International Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition in Weimar, Germany. In addition to her performing career, Buksha is also a dedicated teacher and has given masterclasses in Latvia, Germany, and Switzerland. She is currently a professor of violin at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin. Buksha's playing has been praised for its technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and emotional depth. She is known for her ability to bring out the full range of colors and emotions in the music she plays, and for her passionate and expressive performances. Buksha has received many awards and honors throughout her career, including the Latvian Grand Music Award in 2018, which is the highest honor in Latvian music. She was also named a "Rising Star" by the European Concert Hall Organization in 2019, which led to a series of concerts in some of Europe's most prestigious concert halls.
