Sara Su Jones, the violinist of Heim Duo, was born in Taiwan and began playing the violin at the age of four. She has also won several awards, including the first prize in the 2010 American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition. Yerin Kim, the pianist of Heim Duo, was born in South Korea and began playing the piano at the age of five. She later studied at the Seoul National University and the University of Michigan, where she earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Kim has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various venues around the world, including the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea. She has also won several awards, including the first prize in the 2011 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. The name "Heim Duo" comes from the German word "heim," which means "home." According to the duo, their music is a reflection of their shared experiences and emotions, and they strive to create a sense of warmth and intimacy in their performances. Heim Duo's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary. They have performed works by composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, and Shostakovich, among others. Their performances are characterized by their technical precision, expressive phrasing, and emotional depth. One of Heim Duo's most notable performances was their debut recital at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 2014. The duo received critical acclaim for their performance, with The New York Concert Review describing their playing as "exquisite" and "sensitive." They have also performed at other prestigious venues, such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and the Seoul Arts Center in South Korea. In addition to their performances, Heim Duo is also committed to music education and outreach.
