Role:EnsemblePalmetto Camerata is a classical music ensemble based in South Carolina, United States. The group was founded in 2015 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to bring high-quality performances to their community. The founding members of Palmetto Camerata were violinist Eka Gogichashvili, violist Michael Klotz, cellist Claire Bryant, and pianist Andrew Armstrong. All four musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and chamber groups, and they were excited to come together to form a new ensemble. From the beginning, Palmetto Camerata was committed to performing a wide range of classical music, from well-known masterpieces to lesser-known works by up-and-coming composers. The group's repertoire includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, and many others, as well as contemporary pieces by living composers. One of the highlights of Palmetto Camerata's early years was their performance at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina in 2016. The group received rave reviews for their performance of Beethoven's String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131, which was described as "powerful and moving" by local critics. Since then, Palmetto Camerata has continued to perform at a variety of venues throughout South Carolina and beyond. The group has been featured on numerous concert series, including the Chamber Music Charleston series, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra's Chamber Series, and the Columbia Museum of Art's Chamber Music on Main series. In addition to their regular concert performances, Palmetto Camerata has also been recognized for their educational outreach efforts. The group has worked with local schools and community organizations to bring classical music to a wider audience, and they have been praised for their engaging and informative presentations. Palmetto Camerata has also received several awards and honors for their performances. In 2017, the group was awarded the South Carolina Arts Commission's Elizabeth O'Neill Verner Governor's Award for the Arts, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the arts in South Carolina. The group was also named the 2018 Artist of the Year by the South Carolina Chamber Music Festival. Today, Palmetto Camerata continues to be a leading force in the South Carolina classical music scene. The group's commitment to excellence and their passion for sharing classical music with their community has earned them a loyal following and a reputation as one of the state's premier chamber ensembles.More....
